All the latest in artificial intelligence: ChatGPT Pro, Sora AI, Gemini 2.0, Siri LLM, and Reddit AI

Apple, Reddit, OpenAI, Google: all the major tech players are in a race to develop new AI-powered solutions. Here is a look at the most recent breakthroughs.

  • OpenAI launches ChatGPT Pro and Sora AI

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Pro, a $200/month plan offering advanced access to its most powerful AI models, including OpenAI o1, o1-mini, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice. The plan also includes o1 pro mode, which draws on additional compute to deliver more precise and thorough responses. This is especially useful in complex fields like data science, programming, and legal analysis.

Built for researchers, engineers, and professionals, ChatGPT Pro aims to supercharge productivity and tackle the toughest problems using cutting-edge AI capabilities.

OpenAI also unveiled Sora Turbo, an upgraded version of its AI video creation tool, Sora AI. Available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers, Sora Turbo generates videos up to 1080p resolution and up to 20 seconds long, in landscape, vertical, or square formats. Users can create content from text, images, or video clips, and customize their creations with tools like the storyboard.

The rise of increasingly realistic AI-generated video raises serious ethical concerns, particularly around misinformation. OpenAI has committed to addressing these issues through measures such as embedding metadata in AI-generated videos to clearly identify their origin. That said, the growing use of such realistic tools undeniably raises growing ethical questions from an outside perspective.

  • Google announces the rollout of Gemini 2.0

Following Gemini 1.0 and Gemini 1.5, Google is presenting Gemini 2.0 as its most powerful AI model to date. Gemini 2.0 marks a major step forward in multimodality and agentic capabilities, enabling the AI to understand and interact with complex data types such as images, audio, and text. The model offers enhanced capabilities for handling large-scale tasks like in-depth research and automatically generated reports. It will be progressively integrated into Google products. • Apple is working on Siri LLM to compete with ChatGPT

Apple is preparing a major overhaul of Siri, integrating AI to make the voice assistant more conversational, much like ChatGPT and Google's Gemini Live. Dubbed Siri LLM, this version will be powered by Apple's own AI models and will encourage deeper interactions with users. Siri LLM will be able to summarize and draft text, and interact with third-party apps. A full rollout is expected in spring 2026.

  • Reddit launches its new AI-powered search tool

Reddit unveiled its new AI-powered search tool, Reddit Answers. The tool lets users ask questions directly on the platform and receive answers with suggestions pulled from Reddit discussions, without having to go through Google's search engine.

Reddit Answers will initially roll out to a limited number of users in the United States in English only. It will be available on the web and iOS, with plans to add more languages in the future.

Of the 185 brands that have appeared in Interbrand's annual report since 2000, 85 have disappeared over time, including once-iconic names like Kodak, Heinz, Nokia, and AOL. Only two brands have consistently held a spot in the top 10: Coca-Cola and Microsoft.

Newsletter subscribers generate 7.4x more revenue than your social media followers

A study by Neil Patel and his peers, conducted with 2,501 marketers, found that 69% prioritize growing their social media following, while only 31% focus on growing their email newsletter subscriber base. Yet the monthly revenue generated by 1,000 social media followers is $79.15 USD, compared to $582.07 USD for 1,000 newsletter subscribers, which is 7.4 times more. That is a serious reason to rethink your marketing tactics.
